SEO for small businesses, built into your monthly plan
Help your site rank on Google over time — without hiring a separate SEO agency or paying a separate retainer. It's part of the £150/month.
What SEO actually is, in plain English
SEO — search engine optimisation — is the work of making your website easier for Google to find, understand, and recommend to people searching for what you offer.
When someone types “plumber in Leeds” or “accountant for freelancers UK” into Google, the results they see aren't random. Google is making a judgment about which sites best answer that search — based on the content on the page, how the site is structured, how fast it loads, how many other sites link to it, and dozens of other signals. SEO is the work of improving those signals on your site.
The reason SEO is ongoing rather than a one-time job is that those signals change. Your competitors are improving their sites. Google's algorithm updates. New search trends emerge as language shifts. A site that ranks well today without ongoing attention will typically slide over 6–12 months as the landscape moves around it.
What we actually do each month
SEO work falls into four areas we cover every month:
- On-page optimisation. Reviewing and improving page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, and internal links to make sure every page sends clear signals about what it's about.
- Content and blog updates. Publishing new content — blog posts, updated service pages, FAQs — that targets the searches your customers actually make. This is the work that compounds most over time. We write it for you; read more about how we approach blog writing.
- Technical health checks. Checking for crawl errors, broken links, slow pages, and anything that prevents Google from properly indexing your site. Most of this is invisible when it's working — we make sure it stays that way.
- Rankings monitoring. Tracking how your target keywords are performing in Google Search Console, identifying what's improving, what isn't, and adjusting the work accordingly.
Realistic expectations: what SEO can and can't do
SEO is one of the most valuable long-term investments a small business can make in its website. It's also one of the most consistently oversold services in digital marketing.
Here's what's true: most sites won't see significant ranking improvements in the first 2–3 months. Google needs time to crawl new content, assess it against competing pages, and make ranking adjustments. That's not failure — it's the normal pace of how organic search works.
From months 3–6, you should start to see movement on lower-competition terms. From 6–12 months, with consistent work, organic traffic typically starts to become a meaningful source of enquiries — and unlike paid ads, it doesn't stop the moment you stop spending.
What we won't do is promise you page one rankings within 30 days or guarantee specific positions. Anyone making those promises either doesn't understand SEO or is using tactics that can get your site penalised. We'd rather set honest expectations and deliver consistently over time.
Why bundled SEO makes more sense than a separate agency
A dedicated SEO agency typically charges £500–£1,500/month for small business SEO work. That's a significant retainer — and it's separate from whoever is managing your hosting, building your content, and making changes to your site.
The problem with that split is coordination. When your SEO agency recommends a structural change to your site, someone has to brief a developer to implement it. When they want a new page written, you either write it yourself or pay separately. The work gets fragmented across multiple suppliers, and things fall through the gaps.
Because we built your site and manage it month to month, SEO improvements happen without an extra handoff. If a page needs restructuring for a keyword opportunity, we do it. If a new blog post needs writing and publishing, we do that too. The £150/month covers all of it — a fraction of what a standalone SEO retainer would cost, with none of the coordination overhead. Technical SEO vs ongoing SEO: the difference
There are two distinct types of SEO work, and it's worth understanding what each one involves.
Technical SEO is about the foundations: does Google find and index your site correctly? Does it load fast enough? Is the HTML structured logically? Are there broken links or crawl errors? This work is largely done when we build your site — clean code, proper heading hierarchy, a sitemap, canonical tags, optimised images, and page speed are all baked into how we build. You're not paying us to retroactively fix a poorly built site.
Ongoing SEO is the continuous work of building authority and relevance over time: publishing content that targets real searches, expanding the pages that are already ranking, fixing anything the monthly health check surfaces, and adapting to how Google is weighting different signals. This is what the monthly plan covers, and it's the work that compounds.
Common questions
How long until I see results?
- Realistically, 3–6 months before you see meaningful movement, and 6–12 months before SEO becomes a reliable source of traffic. This isn’t us being evasive — it’s how Google works. New pages take time to be crawled, indexed, and evaluated relative to competing sites. What we can tell you is that every month of consistent work builds on the last, and sites that stick with it for 12 months tend to see results that compound significantly.
Do you guarantee rankings?
- No — and you should be sceptical of anyone who does. Google controls its own algorithm, and no one outside Google can guarantee a specific ranking position. What we can guarantee is that every month we’ll be doing the work that gives your site the best chance of ranking well: producing relevant content, fixing technical issues, building on-page signals, and monitoring what’s working. We’ll be transparent about what we’re doing and what the data is showing.
What keywords will you target for my business?
- We work this out with you during onboarding, based on what your customers actually search for, what your competitors are ranking for, and what’s realistically achievable given your site’s current authority. We prioritise keywords with commercial intent — searches made by people actively looking for what you sell — over high-volume terms that are dominated by large national brands. Local and niche terms are often where small businesses can win fastest.
