Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about working with Fixed Web Studio.
- What does the £500 build fee include?
- Custom design, up to 5 pages (typically Home, About, Services, Contact, and one additional page of your choice), a mobile-responsive layout, a working contact form, and basic on-page SEO setup including page titles, meta descriptions, and structured data. We aim to go from brief to live site in 2–3 weeks.
- What does the £150/month plan cover, in plain terms?
- Managed hosting, an SSL certificate, security updates and patches, daily offsite backups, uptime monitoring, up to two content changes per month (text, images, offers), one blog post written and published for you each month, and a monthly SEO report. It’s the ongoing cost of having someone else look after the site properly — so you don’t have to.
- How long does the build take?
- Typically two to three weeks from brief sign-off to launch. This depends on how quickly feedback and content come through on your end. We’ll give you a specific timeline at the start so there are no surprises.
- Is there a minimum commitment on the monthly plan?
- There’s a 3-month minimum from your launch date. This gives the SEO work enough time to start showing results — progress in organic search takes time, and a month isn’t long enough to give a fair assessment. After the initial 3 months, the plan rolls monthly and can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice.
- What happens to my site if I cancel?
- The site is yours. You own the code, design, and content in full. If you cancel the monthly plan, we provide a complete handover package so you can host the site elsewhere. Nothing is held back, and there are no exit fees.
- What if I need more than 5 pages, or more complex functionality?
- Additional pages are £40 each, added to the build fee. More complex requirements — e-commerce, booking systems, member-only areas, database integrations — are scoped separately. Some of these won’t fit the fixed-fee model, and if that’s the case we’ll tell you clearly from the start rather than trying to squeeze them in.
- How does the process work, from first contact to a live site?
- You fill in the contact form (or email us). We come back within one working day to book a brief call. If you’re happy to proceed, we have a short call to go through the brief — your business, your customers, what you want the site to achieve. We design and build; you review and give feedback, typically one or two rounds. Once approved, we handle the launch, domain connection, and hosting setup. You don’t need to deal with any of the technical side.
- Will the site actually rank on Google?
- The site is built with correct SEO foundations: fast loading, clean structure, structured data markup, and properly set page titles and meta descriptions. The monthly SEO work compounds that over time — improving existing pages, adding targeted content, tracking rankings. That said, SEO takes months, not weeks, and anyone promising specific rankings by a specific date should be treated with scepticism. We’re honest about what’s realistic for your market.
- I already have a website — can you rebuild or take it over?
- Yes to both. If you’re unhappy with what you have, we can redesign and rebuild it under the same £500 + £150/month model. If you want someone to manage and improve an existing site, get in touch and we’ll assess whether that fits the scope of the monthly plan.
- Do you work with any type of business?
- We focus on UK small businesses — sole traders, local services, tradespeople, consultants, and small companies — who need a professional site without the complexity or cost of a full agency. We’re not set up for large-scale e-commerce, complex web applications, or enterprise projects. For a business that needs a well-built, well-maintained site that earns its keep in search, we’re a good fit.
